Prince Gallitzin Cross Awards

In 1990 Bishop Joseph V. Adamec established the Prince Gallitzin Cross Awards as a way to recognize Catholics in the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese, who exemplify in their discipleship the evangelizing characteristics of the Reverend Priest and Prince, Servant of God Demetrius Augustine Gallitzin. These men and women through their lives and ministry in the Church have been a light to those around them.

Every Spring nominations are accepted from clergy, religious and lay people. Sometimes a parish Council will nominate someone. Every nomination must be submitted through a pastor or a Diocesan Director. Bishop Joseph selects the recipients by late April. The awards are usually presented in early June.
