How is one declared a saint?

Come O Holy Spirit of God - You who stir in the hearts of your people, come and join with us at this gathering which celebrates men and women who have cared for the vision and the mission of Jesus entrusted to them.

As you drew the heart of Prince Gallitzin to these mountains of Western Pennsylvania to tend to the faith of the people found here, and as he wholeheartedly built the faith community one soul, one family, one parish at a time, continue to gift us again with the strength of the Holy Spirit, to enliven and enrich the Catholics of the Alleghenies to be missionaries filled with love, humility, courage, dedication and holiness.  Allow us to witness to Jesus, who is the way, the truth and the Life.

Bless our food for which we are grateful and bless those who lovingly prepared it.

May Jesus smile on use this evening, saying to each of our hearts. "I have come to set fire upon the earth and I have seen it blazing in the hearts of my people."

We proclaim your awesomeness O God, through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Amen

-prayer given as the invocation at the 17th Annual Prince Gallitzin Cross Award Dinner on June 3, 2006 by Sister Linda LaMagna, C.C.W.
