2007 Prince Gallitzin Cross Award Recipient Elizabeth McDermott
is a member of Saint Mary Parish, Nanty Glo, and was nominated by the Saint
Mary’s Conference of the Saint Vincent DePaul Society, and the members of
Saint Mary Parish. Mrs. McDermott is
president of the parish’s Saint Vincent DePaul Society Conference. “Betsy truly
personifies the Good News of Jesus Christ and the virtues of Prince Gallitzin by
her faith, commitment and service to God’s people,” wrote Father David Peles,
pastor. “Her role as conference
president, team leader and store manager has made our local Thrift Store a
successful business, as well as a welcome necessity for the underprivileged and
physically and learning disabled members of our parish and community.”
